GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

Introduction

Target group

Victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, car hijacking, murder, house breaking, assault and hate crimes, sexual violation and rape, child abuse, elder abuse, abuse of people with any form of disability.

Aim

To render holistic therapeutic community based services to victims of any forms of violence to human being with special focus to women and children

Prevention Services

To engage victims of crime and violence in sustainable social and economic development programmes that seek to enhance their quality of life and the below are the activities and deliverables that we focus on:

Activities

  • Awareness campaigns and Capacity building on services to victims of crime and violence
  • Economic empowerment
  • Recruitment, selection, training and maintenance of volunteers.
  • Advocating for victim’s rights and services in collaboration with other stakeholders e.g. Victims Charter (multi-sectoral approach)
  • Commemoration of national and international conventions (Women’s
  • Day and 16 Days of NO violence against women and children)
  • Establishment and monitoring of Victim Empowerment facilities

  • Victims of crime and violence are empowered.
  • Normal developmental opportunities of children are  maximised
  • Quality of life of victims of crime and violence are  enhanced
  • Capacity of illiterate and unemployed women is strengthened,
  • Adherence to legislative and constitutional rights accorded to women

Early Intervention Services

Provide early intervention services to victims of domestic violence, crime, trauma, and human trafficking.

Social work Intervention Services on gender based violence

  • Receive, assess and counselling of victims of crime and violence
  • Co-ordination of services with relevant stakeholders,
  • Mediation/restorative justice system and programmes
  • Para-legal services.
  • Advocacy and awareness programmes
